“Alright fam,” Dr. Torrey Dooley says as the doors to the LUX Smart Health Lab slide open. “Today, we are not looking for a robot doctor. We are looking for smart tools that help real people give safer, kinder, clearer care.”

Ace adjusts his glasses. LANA opens the team’s mission map. Three destinations glow: a smart pharmacy, a cheerful wellness robot, and a holographic data garden where health patterns grow like digital plants.

Dr. Dooley gives the team one challenge: Find three ways AI can help—and three moments when people must lead. Every stop adds a Health Hero skill: verify, care, and protect.

01The smart pharmacy — verify before you trust

Ace, LANA, and Dr. Dooley explore a smart pharmacy and learn that AI can flag information while pharmacists verify every decision.
Smart systems can organize and flag. Qualified people understand the patient and make the final decision.

The first stop looks like a pharmacy from the future. Clear shelves hold carefully organized packages. A robotic arm moves items between stations. Screens compare labels, inventory, and instructions.

Ace asks the question many children—and adults—might ask: “If the computer is this smart, does it choose the medicine?” Dr. Dooley keeps it real: No.

A smart pharmacy system could help a trained professional organize inventory, compare labels, notice duplicate entries, flag information that deserves another look, and find records more efficiently. But a flag is not a diagnosis, and a match is not a medical decision.

A pharmacist or other qualified professional still needs to understand the patient, review the source, consider allergies and other medicines, communicate clearly, and decide what action is appropriate.

LANA’s verify loop

Medicine safety: Never take, share, stop, or change medicine because an AI tool suggested it. Medicine questions belong with a trusted adult and a qualified pharmacist, nurse, or doctor.

02Meet the wellness robot — support is not diagnosis

Ace meets a friendly wellness robot while Dr. Dooley and LANA explain how technology can encourage routines without replacing human care.
A wellness tool can remind, track, and encourage. It should never pretend to replace a real healthcare relationship.

At the second stop, a small silver wellness robot rolls into the room. It can celebrate a completed movement break, remind someone to drink water, guide a short breathing exercise, or help a family keep track of a routine.

A wellness tool may collect answers or notice changes, but it should not pretend to understand a person the way a healthcare professional does. A number on a screen cannot replace a conversation, clinical training, or the ability to notice what a person is not saying.

A responsible wellness robot gives age-appropriate reminders, celebrates progress without shame, uses accessible language, explains uncertainty, and encourages a child to involve a trusted adult when something feels wrong. It becomes unsafe when it acts like a doctor, pressures a child to share private information, or makes frightening predictions.

LANA adds one more rule: Children should always know when they are talking to a machine. Honest design builds trust.

03The holographic data garden — protect what helps people grow

LANA guides Ace and Dr. Dooley through a holographic data garden where glowing patterns represent health information and privacy choices.
Data can reveal useful patterns, but permission, privacy, quality, and context determine whether a system deserves trust.

The final doors open into a tunnel of glowing lines. The lines branch, connect, and bloom into a holographic garden. Each digital plant represents a pattern: sleep routines, activity, air quality, appointment access, or another type of health information.

Groups can learn useful things from data. A community might discover that families need a clinic open later in the evening. A school might notice that students need more opportunities for movement. Researchers might see a pattern that deserves careful study.

But health information is deeply personal. Before data enters the garden, the team asks whether people gave permission, whether the information is truly necessary, whether identifying details can be removed, who may see it, how long it will be kept, and how a result could be misunderstood or used unfairly.

Dr. Dooley points to a digital plant with missing branches. “If the data leaves some communities out, the picture can look complete even when it is not.” That is a kid-friendly introduction to data quality and bias.

The three-question health technology test

1. What is the tool helping with?Name the narrow task: organizing, reminding, translating, finding a pattern, or supporting a professional review.
2. What must a person still decide?Identify who verifies the result, understands the individual, explains uncertainty, and can correct a mistake.
3. What should stay private?Children should use imaginary characters and pretend data—not real medical records, symptoms, medication lists, names, or addresses.

Show the moment a person checks, explains, protects, or decides. The technology supports the team; it does not replace the team.
